Symptoms and Services
Many people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain. In the first phase of care, our main goal is to reduce your symptoms. Initially, treatment visits may occur weekly or more frequently depending on individual pain level and symptom type. Unlike traditional methods of treatment, we emphasize stability and mobility in this initial phase of treatment. Most people assume if they don’t feel any pain they are healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a poor indicator of health. Pain and other symptoms frequently appear only after a disease or condition is advanced. For example, consider a cavity. Does it hurt when it first develops? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, stress or problems with the spine – pain is the last thing to appear. The great news is when you begin chiropractic care – pain is the first symptom to disappear.
Eliminating symptoms is the easiest part of a person’s care. If all your doctor does is reduce the pain and then stop treatment, the chance of a rapid reoccurrence of symptoms is great. It is best to continue receiving care even when the symptoms disappear. During this phase, you will not have to receive adjustments as often. We work to restore and maintain overall structural balance of your body – total body wellness. You may begin to exercise and stretch to accelerate your healing. Do not be discouraged if you have a mild flare-up. This is normal because your body hasn’t fully healed.
Once your body has fully healed, routine chiropractic care can help ensure that your problems do not return and keep your body in optimal condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well are necessary to sustain the benefits of exercise and a proper diet - it is necessary to continue to receive periodic chiropractic treatment to ensure the health of your musculoskeletal system. When routine chiropractic care is part of your lifestyle, you avoid many of the aches and pains so many people are suffering from.
