When most people think of going to a chiropractor, they think of back pain. So, imagine my surprise when my dentist was the one who made the recommendation that led me to see Dr. Hulse.
I thought I had a toothache. I spend weeks going back to the dentist – getting exams and x-rays and taking pain medications that didn’t work. The pain wasn’t always in the same spot and nothing seemed to help. Finally, my dentist suggested that it might be a pinched nerve; and I should see a chiropractor. I went to see Dr. Rick Hulse at Chiropractic Fitness; and after the first visit felt much better. Two weeks later I was completely pain free!
Years ago, I worked a very intensive labor job. I had chronic pain and muscle spasms in my back. One injury in particular would occasionally flare up and leave me nearly incapacitated for days. Over the years, I sought out orthopedic surgeons and various chiropractors with minimal success. I thought that I would just have to live with the reoccurring pain and spasms. During one particularly bad reoccurrence; and out of desperation, I decided to seek out chiropractic help from yet another different doctor. A friend recommended that I try Dr. Rick Hulse at Chiropractic Fitness of Erie.
I scheduled an initial appointment, but went with much skepticism. When I arrived for my appointment, the staff at Chiropractic Fitness made me feel welcome and comfortable. Immediately upon meeting with Dr. Hulse, I got the feeling that he was different than other chiropractors I had been to. I could tell that he took a genuine personal interest in me and my health.
After just a couple of visits I was started to see good results. I realized that not only did he know and understand what had caused my pain, but he was really effective at correcting the problem. By following the rehab exercises he gave me and getting regular treatment on the schedule he recommended, I can say I feel better than I did even before the pain and spasms started.
It’s been 3 years since I was initially treated by Dr. Hulse, and 10 years since the original injuries occurred. I’m now 48 years old and recently became a triathlete.
I thank Dr. Hulse for helping me to become pain-free; and enabling me to pursue any physical endeavor I choose to!
In 1999, I was seven months pregnant and rear-ended at a stop light. A full two years of physical therapy and two diagnoses later, I resigned myself to the fact that I would always have considerable back pain. Physical therapy worked – after I got the correct diagnosis – Bulging Discs. It took away 70% of the pain. However, my physical therapist didn’t think I would see any further improvement. She suggested that I consult with a neurosurgeon to see what options I had.
Upon meeting with a local doctor who specialized in disc injuries, I was extremely disappointed to learn that surgery was the only option available to me at that time. The stated risks combined with his waiver of liability were enough to convince me to not have the surgery.
Ten years later while being treated for an unrelated wrist injury, I came across the same physical therapist. She remembered me and asked about my neck injury. When I told her that it was still quite painful at times, she recommended I try Dr. Rick Hulse. She had sent several other neck and back injury patients to see him with really good success. After lots of questions on my part and good, logical answers on her part, I decided to make an appointment to see if Dr. Hulse could help me.
I was relieved and pleasantly surprised at that first visit. As soon as I disclosed my injury information, Dr. Hulse was able to pinpoint my symptoms and some of the activities that caused increased pain. He knew exactly what questions to ask to assess me properly and recommend a course of treatment to get me out of pain, help me strengthen my back and get back to my life. I had been in pain for so long, I had become used to it and didn’t realize how good I could actually feel.
I would strongly recommend Dr. Hulse for anyone who is having back pain or pain elsewhere that is hard to identify. My particular injury caused neck and back pain, but also caused pain to shoot down my left arm. Dr. Hulse knew exactly what to do to help me get better. I saw results that first week and continued to see results throughout my treatment. It’s been over two years since I originally saw Dr. Hulse. Now I see him only occasionally – usually when I overdo it! I’m so grateful that I decided to take a chance on him. I’m finally able to enjoy activities with my family – including my son. We ran two 5k races together last year. Having my well-being back is priceless.
